Default A North Carolina movie

Ok you folks in NC, I have a question. Can someone tell me what the name of this movie is.

This movie was about a bunch of young people in NC that were on some kind of treasure hunt, and I believe they may have been on the run from the law.

Throughout the whole movie the background music was a bluegrass-gospel group called "Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver"

I believe it took place in the eastern/coastal region.

Does anyone know the name of this movie? It is about 10 years old, or maybe older. Late 90's I would guess.

Thanks

I'm a North Carolinian. But the movie you are trying to remember is "O Brother, Where Art Thou," it was filmed entirely in Mississippi, and the story was set in 1930s Mississippi. The movie was released in December 2000, it was nominated for two Oscars, George Clooney won the Golden Globe, and the Grammy was awarded for the soundtrack, which included the singers you mentioned.

Many parts of the South look the same, but so do many parts of the U.S. In fact, and this is off-subject, but I looked at a photography book of landscape panoramas by a Japanese artist, they were arranged by similarity, like grassy fields, and when you read the fine print, the locations were all over the world, Russia looked like England, which looked like America, and all its various states.
