Default Relocating?

Hello everyone. I am a single 27 year old mom looking to relocate maybe to North Carolina. I need a change of pace, scenery, everything having lived in CT all my life. I've been to NC once in my life but it was over 10 years ago. I would love to go back to live but I know nothing about the whole state. I would love to live in a safe area where apartments are affordable. I'll have my degree shortly and I am going more heavily into Real Estate so I could research the housing market later on. I also need good schools. Clubs and nightlife don't really appeal to me but parks, community centers, and entertainment venues do appeal to me so that my kids will have something to do. Also this is very high on my list and it may sound crazy but I have a phobia for bugs. I don't mean all bugs just the ones that could cause injury to an infant or an adult for that matter. We have them here in CT but I don't see them enough to worry about my 1 year old. I read about the bugs in FL and they are terrible. I would never live there and these are the type I'm talking about. If someone could help I would appreciate it. Oh and one more thing. What about amusement parks and tourist attractions in and around NC? That would give me and the kids something to do. Thanks a bunch.

Generally, the closer you get to the Equator, the more insect life. As NC goes the Mountain Region will have slightly less, than the Piedmont or Eastern Plain Region, due to the average yearly temperature being somewhat lower.

Recreation in North Carolina tends to be based more on natural resources like the Outer Banks, Mountains and large recreational lakes, than steel and concrete amusement parks of the northeastern metro areas. Personally, I'd rather live near the highest mountain in the Eastern U.S. than live near a state-of-art rollercoaster.
