These people are just fake and will talk about you until they are blue in the face.
As for education, hopefully that will improve since the words, y’all, fixin, du wha now, are not proper English. Hopefully our children will not learn this from there teachers and if there teacher does speak that way, make sure you correct your child immediately.
Other then that you get more for your money in the value of your home and taxes, but clothing, food, living expenses average to be about the same. Good luck!!!

This is a classic example of a "set up". Here are the signs:
-the very first post by a new user is provoking
-provides zero background, therefore no credibility to what they are saying
-will usually string together every bad thing or stereotype
-will then disappear or go dormant and watch everyone get worked up.
Don't fall for it folks, better yet, just report it and it will be dealt with quicker.

I can agree with this much of this post up to this point, having lived there, and that a lot of people on the NC forums get entirely too offended when anything gets posted that they don't want to read.
It is worse for you if you adhere to a religion of which Jesus Christ is not the central figure, or to none at all. Let's just say I pulled out the "I believe religion is a private matter" line more often than I ever cared to or ever had to. And I thought people in Texas were bad about that.
It was a similar thread like this that made me sign up for a city-data.com account and post in the first place.

Did you ever stop to think that the people inviting you to church do so because they care about you? (oh the horror!)
Besides which, does it hurt you to simply say "no thanks?"

No, I didn't even get invited to church. I probably didn't look well-to-do enough for their congregation anyway. I simply got lectured to more often than not and asked a bunch of questions that are nobody's business but my own.
I know where the church is if I want to go.
Matthew 6:5 - And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
That is my favorite scripture, if only because it is probably the most ignored one in the book.

Anyone really from Charlotte?
I know people in Charlotte that are NOT from Charlotte, and from other states.
It's hard to judge the people here.
It seems everyone from the face of the map has their turn signals pointing towards NC.

Until recently, Lake Norman has always been a week end place. Most of the people who live there are transplants. We looked at an acreage there but we chose Union County because we didn't want to be near the Duke Power Plant.

I think the prejudice is yours toward Southerners. When I see that and start hearing how awful and racist, etc. we are is when I disassociate myself from the person talking. I will continue to be polite, but I don't choose to be around rude people who need their mouths washed out with soap. I don't invite people who drink and swear to my home and I don't go to their homes unless social correctness requires it. If that's prejudice, so be it.

Miker, I agree that that was probably a set-up. The thing that bothered me was the potential of some out-of-stater believing it. I tried to resist responding to the fella, but I couldn't help but think of those poor folks wanting to move here getting frightened by what he said. lol
