One thing I liked about our visit to NC was the friendly people. We stopped at a taco bell and everyone was actually very friendly and bright ( I don't see that much in FL Taco Bell ) and we had the best burritos ever!! I think it was in Morresville area. I was very impressed.
Just remember, if someone doesn't like it just because you are from a different state and a different religion....that is their sad problem.

NC has the same kind of people as anywhere else. You meet some good and you meet some bad. What you choose to do with them is up to you. I have to laugh at the misnomer that people in the NorthEast are not as friendly too. Some of the nicest and best people I have EVER met have been from there.

We're from the South originally, but have lived all over the country. I was gone for about 25 years and finally came back.

The mockingbirds still sing the same and the crepe mytles are still gorgeous, but a lot has changed around Raleigh. There has been a huge influx of people from other areas and so the southern feel has diminished as a result. That is not necessarily a bad thing as people in all parts of the country have strengths to offer.

But I've learned from moving a lot that one has to get a feel for what's important to the people in an area - in order to feel at home and build friendships.

If you're from the north, talk slowly and show respect for the southern folk here and you'll get along fine. I say talk slowly because if you talk fast, southerners can interpret it as being pushy even though that's not your intention.

Courtesy is really major big in the South. If you are courteous and considerate it goes a long, long way towards making friends here.

Christianity is really important to most people in NC.

Most people seem to value high morals too so respecting that is important. The bottom line is that people in different regions of the country want to hold onto their cultural differences, whether it's New England, the Midwest, or California, or the South. So respecting those differences is important if you're a newcomer.

If you run into resentment it's because some people moving in are trying to change the culture, the landscape, you name it. Woods and landscape are real important to a lot of southerners and outside developers are coming here and pretty much raping the land in some places. It would be like a southerner moving to New York City and plowing down the skyscrapers to put in a gazebo and a lake. Your average New Yorker just wouldn't take too kindly to some landmark building being disrespected.

So understanding what's important to the people where you move is real important. And respecting the folks even if they're different.

I've found strengths in people everywhere I've lived in this great country of ours.

Avoid North Carolina Like Yellow Fever. Traffic, Crime And Pollution Are Going To Explode To Massive Proportions Due To The Influx Of People Coming There. It Is Actually Quite Odd That So Many People All Want To Move To The Same Place. Why Do So Many People On This Forum Have The Monkey See Monkey Do Mentality?

I wanted to move there long before I read anything on here. North Carolina is the most beautiful place God created. It sure beats living in Texas where it's HOT and FLAT. Do you even live there?

Just curious, is it difficult to type when you have to stop to capitalize each word?
