It is suggested to be 1,000,000 square feet. Fayetteville is a finalist, probably going to get it.
What do you think it will be? My guess is Amazon.
From the article in the Fayetteville Observer:
Quote:
A “well-known retailer” is considering building a large distribution center in Fayetteville that would employ more than 400 full-time workers and hundreds of part-time workers.
The project, also known as a “fulfillment center,” would cost more than $100 million to build and have a least 1 million square feet of space, said Robert Van Geons, the president and chief executive office of the Fayetteville Cumberland Economic Development Corporation.
It would ship products that customers order on the Internet, according to letter discussing the project.
I would have to agree with it being Amazon with customers ordering products on the internet.
Considering all the 600-700 jobs are still pending and that only 400 are full-time, I'd say the thread title is misleading. Plus the company not stating the salaries makes me think they'll be on the low end. These types jobs normally pay about $11.00 to $12.00 an hour in that region. Are these jobs worth offering state incentives? Bottom-line I'm betting not.
Here's the salary quote:
The company promises to pay “substantially more than minimum wage,” Van Geons said, but he would not be more specific.
Do you know of any other online retailers that could be opening a distribution center?
