Hi, I will be moving to Raleigh or Durham in April 2007. I'm really excited about relocating and starting over. What is the scene like for single women dating? I'm not much of a boozer, but enjoy great lounges and jazz.

Default single and living in Raleigh, nc

Hi there, I"ve been in Raleigh for about a year now and I think there is a ton to do here, though you do have to go looking for it. I live right in downtown which I highly recommend or at least close by. You will pay more but it is so worth it to be close to everything.

I don't know much about Durham, but of the 2, Raleigh is the bigger city.
And they have at least 2 live jazz clubs, I know the owners of one:
Amra's on Glenwood Ave.
Feel free to email me at: toniaz@gmail.com if you have any other questions.

It's amazing that you all are able to find these 'night life' in Raleigh. I lived here for 4 years before moving to So Cal, and all I can remember is the downtown area having a bit of nightlife in the summer time. In the winter, the place is pretty dead. It seems people go to the same clubs/bars over and over...not many varieties.

Outside of bars/clubs, going to the gym and parks, what can a single person do here? Raleigh just seems dead to me.
