Bummer! Here's wishing everyone that has had it or currently has it or those that may get it a quick recovery! I have not heard of anything going around and did get a Flu shot in the fall and hoping that will keep the ebbe geebe's away!

Had it for the entire month of January and it eventually led me to the ER.
I literally felt like I was going to die. Closest thing to pnuemonia without actually being pneumonia.
NASTY STUFF INDEED.

Our whole family had the good fortune to get parvovirus, which is really just delightful because of the many ways it can afflict you. Me -- a whole day of an itching rash all over my body. My wife -- two weeks of aching joints. My middle son -- fever, rash, cold-like symptoms. And of course there are other symptoms, but these were just the most fun. The best part, it's quite contagious but by the time you're symptomatic you're no longer contagious! Joy oh joy. At least now that we've had it, we'll never have it again.
Anyhow, if anyone has what seems to be a cold with some odd additional symptoms, it's worth looking up or asking your doctor. (There's a definite test to see if you have the virus.) It's not fatal or anything, just annoying.
This was back in December. We've all got colds and some of us have a mild fever now, but nothing too serious. Glad it's not pertussis.

yep. I've been dancing with it for a couple weeks and this morning it's full fledged. Hub has it and 5 yo has it too. Only the 2 yo doesn't. And we're all at different stages too. Yuck. I hate having a cold when 9 mos pregnant.

Not sure what I have. My fiancee had classic cold symptoms for the past 10 days, but I'm just coming down with what feels like sinusitis and a very sore throat with a low fever. Also a little bit of dry coughing. No runny nose or sneezing...yet?
Geoff2v, thank you for the heads up on the parvovirus. Everyone else, hope you and/or your loved ones get well soon!

Last week I had a horrible sore throat then came the coughing and sneezing. My son of course had the same thing a week or so earlier. Fortunately for us it only lasted about 5-6 days (total). Most of the people I know have had the same thing and it dragged on for weeks. For whatever reason, both my son and I have great immune systems. He is in first grade and has not missed a day of school from being sick this year or his kindergarten year.
The flu is used much more often than it actually happens. There are hundreds of different viruses going around. With the flu you literally feel like you've been hit by a bus with a fever and it lasts for weeks. With the flu *most* people can't even get out of bed for that duration. At least with a very bad cold we can typically still function, perhaps not well though!
I don't run to the doctor for every little thing and actually I think that contributes. Everytime we do go to the doctor for a checkup, we always end up catching something several days later. I don't think that is a coincidence!

I just came back from KY with it. Since I was at a convention with several hundred people from all over the country, there's no telling where it came from.

I was beginning to wonder if there were some kind of weird, different kind of illnesses here in NC that my body or my DH's body were not yet use to or had not built up some kind of immunity to but from the sounds of it here looks like we are far from alone. It just seemed to last for to long--weeks!! Yikes!
