Yes, we had the flu...my daughter & I both. I have never had it before that I remember, and its been completely miserable...very sudden, high fever, headache, horrible chills & body aches, still coughing almost 2 weeks later. My daughter seemed to have less problems...fever for 3 days, then just congestion. Apparantly the number of cases shot up last week.

I haven't been sick. I had the flu shot. And I'm the crazy who...
- was on the plane in December to NYC whom you may have seen wearing an N95 mask (bought at Lowe's) over my nose and mouth. Even the airline staff looked at me with evil eyes. I bet they got sick.
(The reality is that I was going to Sloan-Kettering to visit someone after he received a transplant, and **I** wasn't going to be the one to bring a germ into his isolated hospital room that might potentially kill him! But I'll wear a mask every time I fly during flu season now; I used to get sick after every wintertime plane trip.)
- never touches a door knob, or even a door, especially at the mall
- washes hands for 30 seconds
- keeps anti-bacterial lotion in the car and uses it each and every time I get in the car. Also use it at work.
- who makes visiting children wash their hands regularly, and if they're sick, I tell them to keep their distance.
- brings reading material from home when going to a doctor's appointment, versus reading the potentially germ-filled material in the waiting room.
- tells family members, "I love you" but will be darned if I'll kiss 'em when they're sneezing and coughing.
- takes a multivitamin every day.
Go ahead, call me a germaphobe. Call me Felix. Call me Howie (Mandel). I can take it.
But keep in mind -- I didn't get sick! (I USED to get sick at least once or twice a year, especially in December and February, like clockwork, but no more!)

I am hearing about a really bad fever, vomiting, shaking flu type circulating in MD. My son came home with a really bad cough and some fever. It looks like he's better but I was concerned for me and my husband. I had my son ensure that he washed his hands all the time.
I hope those who are still suffering feel better very soon.
