The Days Inn is being redeveloped as we speak as a boutique hotel. Longleaf Inn or something I think. It's supposed to have a delicatessen. And the Origin Hotel is well underway right now on Glenwood. That'll add a bit more flavor.

From Charlotte Center City Partners
Uptown, Charlotte’s central business district, is home to a variety of industries and more than 1,200 businesses of all sizes—from tech startups to Fortune 500 companies—and the corporate headquarters for Bank of America and Duke Energy. It is a place where companies grow and succeed. Uptown is the center of commerce, providing access to customers, partners and services located in LEED-certified office towers, tech incubators and co-working spaces.

That what Raleigh needs is more business downtown. It may come sooner than you think. With North Carolina being looked at for a place to relocate, who knows how many business will relocate to Raleigh and want to located in downtown.
First Citizen Bank should wake up relocate to downtown.

The nicest hotels are where business is. So Umstead is located in Cary and not downtown.

The Proximity Hotel in Greensboro is not the biggest in the city but its probably the nicest and is on par with some major upscale/luxury chains. The Grandover Resort in South Greensboro is also nice. The Proximity also has the designation of being the "greenest" hotel in America and there was a story on the hotel several years ago on NBC Today Show. The hotel is located on the edge of midtown. It was named of the old Proximity textile mill on the north side of town.

Greensboro sorely needs the hotels that it's currently getting downtown.

The Westin, Hampton inn&suites, Hyatt Place and aloft are going to transform the current CBD climate even further.

Current downtoen hotel space will go from 302 rooms, to 768 when all is said and done. Snd 960 when ever the aloft mixed use is complete.

Speaking of which gpac already has it's first two broadway shows sold out, via wmfy11 news.

Kontoor INC (KTI) will be making it's headquaters debut in the wrangler HQ in a couple weeks.

Nothing but good news for the downtown.

Lets hope it stays that way.

Edit: i'm interested in the proposed midrise that may be going up around the gpac site.

My dad went to school with the kids of the original owner. They had a farm and land and no desire to continue working it. Someone with money swooped in and that was that. Money and vision go a long ways.

The owners of the Venable Center announced plans Tuesday for a project that would include 202,000 square feet of office space and 200 luxury apartments spread through two buildings, next to the existing campus on the property, according to a news release.

The development, dubbed The Roxboro at Venable Center, would add to the new features along Durham’s skyline at the southern entrance to downtown. The new project is planned for property at 464 Pettigrew St., east of the Durham Bulls Athletic Park and the construction taking place on new apartments and office space along Mangum Street.

Duke Tower in Charlotte should be releasing renderings within the next month or so.

Article today in the Charlotte Agenda said it could be up to 48 floors and 700+ feet, completion date 2022.

I still want SunBBB to finally hit the 1000’ Mark.
