Default vanceboro vs new bern

My husband and I are considering moving from New England to NC. We're looking at New Bern and possibly Vanceboro, for an over 55 type area, single detached home, within a 30 to 45 minute drive to the coast, to avoid storms and high cost of insurance. Also, information on truck driving jobs available for CDL A hazmat, or any driving jobs, in those areas would be appreciated, such as employers hiring and type of work.
Please list any information that you feel would be helpful about Vanceboro or New Bern. We have been boating for many years and this looks like an area to consider for great weather. Thanks so much for your help.

Vanceboro is about 20 minutes from New Bern and is a very small town. New Bern is of course much bigger and is about 45 minutes from the coast but with the trent river and the Neuse river boardering it there are many boating opertunities and ramps. There are many new subdivisions going up around New Bern and in between New Bern and Havelock. Insurance has gone up recently because of our proximity to the coast but it is not as bad as on the coast.
Not sure about truck driving jobs, but look at the online version of the New Bern Sun Journal for job listing.
Be prepared for long hot and humid summers and mild to cool winters.
