With so many people moving to NC from so many places I thought it would be interesting to start a poll and see where everyone is from. If your state isn't represented feel free to post where you are from.

I voted "NY" ... but there is a WORLD of difference between NYC & anything north and/or west of Binghamton in the state.

Typically there's:
  • NYC
  • What NYC considers Upstate NY
  • What Upstate NY considers Upstate
  • Canada

Looks like there are a lot of us New Yorkers or soon to be ex-New Yorkers. I am presently north of Syracuse in one of the more rural counties in the state. Always amazed at how folks auotmatically think NYC when most of New York is actually extremely rural. Lots of farms and wilderness still. I'd stay put if the taxes were not so out of control and we could warm things up a bit. I used to really enjoy winter but as I get older I tend to tolerate it less. Also the lack of sunshine off the eastern end of Lake Ontario for months at a time is down right depressing.

I loved North Carolina when I lived there years ago. I can't wait to make the move. Just gotta sell my properties up here, hopefully by this time next year I'l be building my new home somewhere in western NC.

You need a spot for us "Half Backs". Started in NY, now live in Fl, but just bought a second home in NC. I'll bet there's more of us than anyone else

I was just browsing through and came across your post. I too am from Western NY (near letchworth Park)-I love the area and most the time do not even care about the cold- but the taxes and other ammentities are so out of control sometimes. I'm sick of the politics of getting a good job too...good luck in your quest!

What? No "native NC" option?

Born and raised in Winston-Salem...moved to Raleigh in '95 for college, and been here since.

Good poll. It's nice to see where everyone's from.

Hope all of you like your new home.

Ditto!! Looks like we're just "others" around here! I was born in Rocky Mount in the sweltering summer of '77, raised in the Rocky Mount/Wilson area, lived in Raleigh for a few years while at NC State, and now I have settled halfway between Raleigh, and my family. I've never lived more that 50 miles from where I was born, and wouldn't want it any other way!!
