I am moving to North Carolina. I will probably be in the same area where my grandchildren live - Huntersville (Concord, Cornelius, Mooresville, Charlotte or Huntersville itself). They live in Huntersville. I am retired and I will be renting. I can't ask my grandchildren because they just moved there 2 weeks ago.

Do any cities have income tax? I was able to find out about state and sales tax but what other taxes are charged.

To my knowledge, no city in NC levies a personal income tax. I can't find any information that says there are cities here that do tax income.

2017-2018 Mecklenburg County tax rates: https://www.mecknc.gov/TaxCollection...20-%202018.pdf

Since your question is about Huntersville and Mecklenburg County if you post in the Charlotte forum you may get more advice.

There is no city income tax in NC, only state income taxes. There are city and county property taxes, charged on real estate, cars, boats, rvs, etc. And sales taxes on a variety of goods and services.

There are no city income taxes. That level of extortion would cause rebellion...

Most of those ares suffer from the most depression for people in the "underclass." Mass barbaric gentrification has caused stress, riots, and injustice for most of those areas for decades.

Thanks! Good to know!

No rebellion, though.

Unless you're hyper rich, a tax system that relies more on income taxes than sales or property taxes will generally be much better for you. It's also much better for local storefront retail, which has to add the cost of property taxes and sales taxes into their products, while a massive online retailer does not.

So I don't know what on earth you're talking about.

Gentrification is a completely unrelated topic.
