Religious groups, pro-life pregnancy clinics get taxpayer money in new NC budget | News & Observer
  • Carolina Pregnancy Care Fellowship, a pro-life group that operates clinics for expecting mothers statewide, which will receive $1 million
  • Human Coalition, which describes itself explicitly as opposing the "abortion industry.": $300,000
  • Mountain Area Pregnancy Services in Asheville, is also receiving $250,000 in the budget. The group's website says it supports abstinence-only sex ed and an end to abortion, and it tells visitors that "God will use your talents and your generosity to change hearts and save lives!"
  • $250,000 to Cross Trail Outfitters, a Christian hunting and fishing group - instead of fighting the opioid epidemic
  • $100,000 to Onslow County to build a YMCA. Onslow County is the home of Sen. Harry Brown, a Republican who is the Senate majority leader.
  • $35,000 to the Forsyth Jail and Prison Ministries
  • $7,500 to All the Kings Children Foundation, a Christian group in Mount Olive that gives food and school supplies to kids from low-income families.
  • $7,500 for Men of Faith, Integrity and Character, another group in Mount Olive that works with local schools.

Gotta love the pork....

wtffff is going on with this state... and I hear people say "Its not as religious as you claim" .. really???? They also may have to post the "In God We Trust" plaques up in the schools soon enough too. This place is teeming with religious nut cases.

Yeah, imagine if the schools already had enough food and supplies because they were funded properly, and didn't need help from religious organizations. Crazy concept, I know...

Why does it matter that the first group is anti-abortion if the organization provides expecting mothers with help? Is that not what planned parenthood champions argue, it doesnt matter that they do abortions but they have services.

not originally.. It was only introduced in 1956 to essentially stave off Soviet communism. The founding fathers were actually quite against religion and in our government. That's all gone down the drains.

It matters to me because if they these religious groups want a say they better start paying their own way like the rest of us.. They want an awful lot of say in things that aren't their business and want to do it all for free. Tax the churches or shut up.. let them find the funds like they do for the private multi-million dollar jets for their preachers.

It does not need to be displayed in schools.. you want your kid to be religious send them to private school. Otherwise keep it in church on Sunday. The rest of us do not believe this is a nation under god.. nor was it founded as such. Perhaps if the rest of the nation would stop dragging us down with such nonsense we could actually progress to our full scientific and technological potential.
