How sad! Isn't there a way to get some kind of legal industry back into these counties and not let the illegal industry of meth take over? What was the previous industry there anyhow?

Illegal industries were probably pot & moonshine.

My first comment is : why are you (especially SR. citizens) (I can say this , because "I" am one!) stopping at visitors center? Why don't you exit and go to one of the franchise
restaurants (such as MCDonalds, Burger King, Hardees, Wendy's ) or whatever the area offers as far as fast foods and use their facilities. Anymore, it probably is NOT advisable to stop at those Centers. It is a shame that it is this way , but better to be safe than sorry.

Most rest stops in Southern states are clean, well maintained, and safe. Remember, we want everyone to enjoy their visit and return. These folks' experience is exceptional and alarming.

I drive down to Florida frequently usually alone. I stop at the I-95 rest stops and have never run into this problem. I park where there are other cars and lots of people and have never had an issue. Actually the Florida leg is the best because there always seem to be troopers at the rest stops. Now at night, I stop at either the big gas station/truck stops or fast food places.

Do I believe that these problems exist. Sure. You just have to be aware and the sad thing is not too trusting. There are more good people than bad and I hope you don't have that experience again.
