There's a German social club centered in Asheville called the German Heritage Circle.

Their website is located at:
http://www.germanheritagecircle.org/

Members are from the western North Carolina area in general.

have to bring this thread back to life

I am german (wuerzburg, northern bavaria), have been living in the US for (almost) 10 years and will be moving to Asheville this coming june. We were planning on this for over 2 years and visited several times.
we are totally in love with the area, which so reminds us of the south of germany, where we were moving from

read about the german club in WNC, but maybe some others are going to read this thread and are ready for a 'stammtisch' once a month or so !

A lot of Germans are here in NC. Some of our towns in our mountains are named after many Germans.
Charlotte has the International House where a German club meets. Pineville has the Waldorn Restaurant,
Hickory has the Schnitzle House (my Favorite) and raleigh has Edelweiss, Bavarian Brathaus and there are many others around the state. The German culture has been spotted around NC since WW1. Just search for german Clubs or Cultural Events and you should be able to see some things familiar to you.
If you are wanting German contacts send me a private message and I will give you some names of fluent speaking Germans.

Hi, I am also from Koeln and live at the moment at the Oregon Coast. We are looking for a place to relocate, what isn't to humid, but also not so overcast, cool and rainy like here in Oregon.
We also thinking about moving to either Denver, Co or Albuquerque, NM. I don't like the weather in Oregon much - the nature is beautiful though - it is to similar to Germany!
