Default Searching for Home Sweet Home

Hello all: My family have been living in Miami - Florida for 17 years but have become tired of well a lot of things. Originally from the islands we are use to surburb type living where you grow up with your neighbors (who become more like family) and just share in the community....everyone knows you by name, kids have eggs hunts, bake sales, block BBQ, Sunday brunch after church, ....you get the picture just some clean , friendly, pleasant living. With the housing boom and influx of ppl into Miami/South Beach from ALL OVER I am afraid that feeling has been lost. We are considering making a change and have just begun our search and narrowed it down to N. Carolina; Durham, Chapel Hill , Raleigh and Charlotte maybe good choices for my very multi-ethnic family. I guess I need to read more on what each area brings. I plan on making another trip to NC in a couple of months and I suppose I need to make an iternary to make sure I get to all these places with a "home search eye". Please feel free to chime in here as my journey begins Any feedback would be appreciated. Thx
