Oh sweet mother of ... Just read this story and look at this photo of Stony Rushing and tell me what TV/movie character you think he reminds you of. And if the 9th District elects this guy over Dan McCready, they deserve whatever embarrassment they get on the national level for this choice.

LOL, a Boss Hogg wannabe. Luckily he will be joined by others. Hopefully McCready will win.
Well the one who eventually wins the seat (lets say the vote is in November 2019) they will have under a year to serve, and will basically be forced to immediately start campaigning again anyways after their win. The seat is not a deal breaker for any party, and won't change the control of Congress, so it will strictly be for bragging rights.
McCready may win the seat, but he may not. And after all of this and he still can't win, he should move on to other plans.

Running for public office should be for public service regardless of term length.

Keep in mind that we are under court order for redistricting. Then we get redistricted after the census. Berger thought he was being clever by postponing it, but the court threw out the whole voter ID thing because it was done while using invalid districts.
McCready is a good guy and has plenty of appeal to both sides. He's an Iraq war vet, captain in the Marines. Joined up after 9/11. He's a family guy with 4 kids. Business man working with solar energy and creating green jobs. He's really an ideal candidate to appeal to both conservatives and progressives.
I live in the 9th district so I'll be re-voting for McCready. However, if Mr. Rushing supports marijuana legalization, he just might have an advantage. "Get Stoned with Stoney" could be his campaign theme. Stranger things!
