Hoping to relocate within the next 2 years. We have a 5 year old. How are the schools? Job market? I am looking for somewhere not over populated but at the same time close to amenities and family fun activities. I originally had my heart set on Concord but I hear the prices of houses are rising as we as the population. any input would be appreciated.

School scan be researched here: https://ncreportcards.ondemand.sas.com/src

Most jobs will be in nearby Hickory, which isn't the most vibrant city, economically.

I'd suggest you look at Belmont. Good schools, relatively affordable real estate, commutable to Charlotte.

I guess an important first question is why are you interested in Newton and why were you interested in Concord since it doesn't appear that you have a job lined up there?

I will say that your odds of not feeling overpopulated in the long run are much better in Newton than they would be in Concord, which is more and more feeling and looking more like an extension of Charlotte. Also, when you say "family fun activities" and amenities, what exactly do you like to do for fun?

most comparisons are usually "relative" or "it depends".
essentially: where are you now and what are you used to?
for example, if you are in Connecticut, the Newton schools will be a disappointment.
however, if you are moving from New Mexico, the job market is much better.
details.

Really, people told you in the thread that you made about Concord on the Charlotte board that you should focus on finding a job, then find a house based on that. You said that you don't want to do that. Do you think it will be different in Newton? People were trying to help you. How's the job market doesn't give people much to help you with. If you tell people the field it makes it easier to help you. For instance, if you work in the medical field, you'll find jobs in Hickory or Lincolnton. I suggested that you run searches on Indeed. That will help you immensely.
