Wow, that is going to be a tough adjustment for you. I don't know what to tell you. But I can say this.....the last city in NC I would move to is Kinston. The money better be good!
Live in New Bern or Winterville and commute! Trust me!

I was born and raised in Kinston, and I can tell you, that this town is definitely dying. The mall here can't support itself, the only place to shop is Walmart. It is a small town with small town values, crime is high, mostly on the "East Side" of town. If you do have to relocate, your best bet is to go on the North side of town, preferably around the HWY258N area, if you have any kids, Banks school is the best public school in that area, good luck to you.

I lived in Kinston for a while and my family is still there. It's a very small town with nothing to do. I would recommend moving outside of town to the Winterville/Greenville area and commuting. Good luck with your move!

I drive through it a lot, and it is TIRED. You will be in severe culture shock. Please do not judge the rest of us as if we were Kinstonians. I expect there are some nice enclaves here and there, but you are going to have to find them. I live in New Bern, 25-20 minutes, very easy, interstate like commute. I don't think Greenville is much if any further.
Quite honestly, I do not think I have ever seen anything positive on this board about Kinston, Good luck to you.
