I don't know if you'll ever see my post but just in case you do here goes...

The people of Eastern Carolina are the most fair and festival holding people I have ever seen in my life. Year 'round there is always a festival, fair or parade to see every weekend. I have seen complaints that there is nothing to do here in EC but the truth is most people only see what they want to see and if they can't see it from a chair they're not looking.

I absolutely LOVE the State Fair in Raleigh. It is in October, ususally the 2nd or 3rd full week for 10 day. You can do all sorts of things, check out the livestock, visit the different booths that show of things manufactured in the state. Check out the gigantic produce (LOVE the pumpkins and the sweet potatoes) You can also look at the crafts people have made!! The decorated cakes are amazing and people line up just to check them out.

The food walking down the midway is also a huge perk. From classic fair food like corn dogs and turkey legs to fried twinkies and fried moon pies there is something for everyone! Then at night they have fairly decently priced concerts at Dorton Arena. I saw Dierks Bentley (Country singer) for $5 when I had to pay to see him at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach for $40. There are also rides etc, but I usually avoid those but they have all the typical fair rides like the Himalya and all the Haunted Houses. I could honestly go on for paragraphs but I will save you the torture of having to read it. DM me if you want more details

Trust me when I say its well worth the drive to get there and the weather is usually amazing.

The NC State Fair in Raleigh is the largest...the Dixie Classic Fair in Winston-Salem is the 2nd largest in the state.
