Sorry, but religion IS an issue even with NC bugs. Over-zealous NC flies constantly try to gain entrance to your home and fly around your head, then they cross themselves constantly until you squash them--I've seen it! In NJ they prefer dog **** to people, and are prone to flipping you the bird.

LOL!! I thought I was the only one who sees a difference in the flies! These things actually harass you!

You know, I did kinda wonder about that when I was last up there...it was hot and humid (almost as bad as NC) yet...no bugs! Weird. I even remember tons of apts having open windows without screens in them...which is totally unthinkable in NC!

The funny thing about the whole "bug" conversation? Bug has been my nickname since I was 2! My mom and dad still call me bug. My first car, you guessed it a VW Bug.

I've been there several times and haven't seen many at all. Where did you see the big spider? Was it in a house or outside

I have noticed a ton of flies here in NC. I think they get in b/c ther eis no screen door on the front door.

We joke that the pollution kills the bugs in NYC!

Don't forget the extremely cultish greenheaded horse flies. 100 vestal virgins and automatic entree into heaven if they sting your dog every time she goes out to potty. One of mine was so sick of them by June that she wouldn't go outside unless I was with her.
Funny thread, JAS. Even more amusing that your first post was back in May but we've seen the same questions repeatedly since then.

Anyhoo, I enjoyed reading all of this lighthearted humor.

I've been in Greensboro for about 6 weeks, and I haven't seen a roach yet. It's amazing - everywhere else I've lived has been closer to the coast, and has had tons of roaches.

The big spider was hanging just above the door in the garage that lead into the house. The bulbus body was as big as a large gumball, most discusting thing, ewww! It was up their for a week or so and my bro in law said it wasn't hurting anything so he left it. I didn't try to smash it as I am sure it would have popped! or with my luck would have fallen on me so I just ran under it real quick . Then one day it was gone, my question was where did it go? Never saw it again.

Nashville TN is the worst I've ever seen for roaches. The entire middle Tennessee valley is infested. If you don't have an exterminator come every month, you will probably have a problem.
When I was renting an upstairs apartment there while in college, I went down in the basement for something. Felt like I was stepping on fortune cookies. Turned on the lights, and roaches running everywhere.
