Default Coming to NC, a Few Questions

We live in NY, about 30 minutes south of Buffalo, NY and we own 5 acres a 1920's house, a dog, 3 ATV's, 3 kiddos ages 15, 9 and 2. Our Ages 35 & 42. Love the outdoors but also want a convenient place nearby to shop & go to movies etc. Love the lake here it's about 2 mins away too. Where is a great place to live in NC by these amenities?

It's hard to say as I think several areas would fit your lifestyle. I live in Raleigh and that fits. 2 hrs. to beach, 4 hours to mountains, plenty of lakes, beautiful parks for biking, hiking, boating, skiing, ect. are around. Shopping is close by and many things to do. Charlotte also has some advantages and Wilmington - by the beach - also has its perks. It just depends what you feel is the right fit. Wilmington is harder to commute from by air. I really like Wilmington myself, but that was the only reason why I didn't move their myself was because of commuting purposes. There are many beautiful places in the area, I'm sure you'll find one that fits you perfectly!

It depends on how close you want to live on the lake. Two lakes come to my mind that also near alot of ATV trails is Badin Lake and High Rock Lake.
badin, nc - Google Maps
high rock lake, nc - Google Maps
If being on the water is not a requirement I would suggest looking into northeast section of Salisbury like Granite Quarry but definite not Spencer
And there is some real cute rural communties close to Lexington that has also good adequate shopping like Linwood, Southmont, Denton that are realative close to the lake.

Default Yes, You can buy a property like that

You can find a property like you have in Buffalo. There are several areas that you would be able to live and have everything that you have now. But it won't be inexpensive, but probably priced less than what you are use to in your home town.
