My husband and I would like to know where we should move
I and my husband have been leaving in Michigan for the last 11 years. We have two kids and want to move to North Carolina. We both are accountant in management positions and work for automotive industry. We want to get out of Michigan because of bad weather and job market. My husband and I would like to know where we should move, so that we can start applying for jobs and relocate. Our requirements:
-Good paying jobs in Accounting or Management
-Fair Weather - not too hot not too cold (Michigan is really bad)
-Low Crime
-Good public education for children 12 and 6 year old.
-Thriving economy
-Consolidated neighborhood (we are white. Race is not an issue for us, of course...but it it might be for others)
-Decent housing -
Any guidance that you could give us would be really appreciated!!
Thanks a bunch

In my opinion, the only part of state that isn't too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter is the southern end of NC's mountains.

I live in Denver, NC. It is north of the city of Charlotte and on the west side of beautiful Lake Norman. My family moved here from the northeast three years ago and love it!
We have children in the public school system and have been very happy. I am a former teacher so I can be quite critical of teachers. Charlotte is a growing city that offers many job opportunities. Good luck with your search, I know how overwhelming it can be.

Ive lived in NC all my life - so I can confirm there are MANY great places! I love the Triangle (meaning Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Cary) because we are only 2 hours away from the beach! The National Assoc of CPAs have their headquarters here - so if must be a great place for Accountants! (LOL!) Anyway - we have appreciating values, good schools and high employment! I love it!

Charlotte - so many choices
I've lived South side area - very congested, great restaurants, lots of schools, and types of house's to choose from. I've lived uptown - great for location of work, but not great for family. Now I live at Lake Norman - love the area. Huntersville and Cornelius and both wonderful and we have the lake. Started to get more restaurants, but great family environment. When I go out - so many times I'll see moms/kids from different classes or school that I've done with my children. Small enough to know people and not feel like a little fish in big pond, but not small enough that everyone is in your business and knows your life. Hope it helps

The "not too hot" stipulation will rule out most of NC except, as one person said, near the mountains. It's over 90, extreme humidity, for about 3 weeks in July-August in most of the state.
When you say you're looking for "Management" jobs, what do you mean? Every industry has managers.

I am a Financial Analyst in Greensboro, NC. I like it here (we were relocated here with my husband's job 4 years ago), however Charlotte is a better job market for Accountants/Financial Analysts. I agree with the prior post that mentioned the Lake Norman area. Our company has some offices in Huntersville and it seems like a great place to live.
