Default Home owners insurance

We are buying a $400,000 house in NC. i just got our homeowners insurance policy thru Allstate. The cost will be $1349/yearly. This seems very high to us. What are people paying?

Thanks

Melissa

Homeowner's insurance rates really depend on the location within the state.

For a 400K home in Alexander County, $1400 sounds about right using the Insurance Commissioner's chart.

Yours doesn't seem all that unreasonable to me. I would recommend getting a quote from Farmers Ins. because they ended up being a couple hundred less per yr for me than anybody else.
