I am so confused as to where to begin.
My fiance and I want to move to NC in a couple of years. We have narrowed it down to Winston-Salem and Durham, I know people in each place.

Anyone have input on the different cities?
I have notice upon research that Durham is a little more expensive, but is pay higher?
I feel like W-S is higher in crime... am I wrong?
We have been researching apartment complexes, but it is so hard when you don't know which is where, and what are good neighborhoods... and what a median rental rate is around so you can get a feel for when an apt is located in a bad part of city..........
any help greatly appreciated.
my email is chicy724@yahoo.com
thanks!!!!

You'd probably prefer Winston-Salem. It's a much more community oriented city with IMO friendlier people. Durham has some serious crime and drug and gang problems and is the place that everyone in the Triangle likes to avoid. It used to be able to boast about Duke, but with the recent TWO rape allegedly occuring on and around the campus, it's not exactly the best thing to boast about anymore.

It depends on the nature of your work.

From what I have seen and been told, there are nice areas in either city. As has been mentioned, you can likely get more for your money in W-S.
