How's North Caorline? The weather the economy? the community? the schools??
I'm thinking of moving there...possibly to an afforable area, thats safe, has good schools, and lots of stores, and a mall,a good community , and lots of things to do!

Many places in NC are very affordable, however, since you are a "city girl" you won't likely be as interested in those places. Our larger cities are not cheap to live in, but nothing like living in places like LA, Chicago or Boston either. You did not mention needing employment when you relocate, are you retired or idependently wealthy? IF finding a job will be necessary to move do not just assume you will find one. In fact, check out the job market FIRST, before you make a definite decision on which area to move to - many people have made the mistake of just coming here, assuming a job will be no problem. But for many it IS a big problem. Charlotte is our largest city with the most to do, but Raleigh, Wilmington and Asheville are all also very popular.

Wow, that's wrong! Like any Southern state, NC has a greater-than-normal % of black residents. Most DO tend to be quite poor; on the map that was posted above, all of the heaviest "black" counties are very rural and poor, with little industry.

However, the cities, thanks to several great universities, have diverse, educated populations; Durham in particular seems to be the most racially mixed, but Raleigh and the others as well are full of educated people of ALL races.
