This is not true. Apparently there is some email chain thing going around where someone changed California to North Carolina. A new law is going into effect in California.

Hopefully something does get signed locally. It is very distressing to see folks with their phone to their left ear with their left hand while making a right turn onto a busy street. That's just one example, don't get me started.

I think there is a law in NC like this, but it only pertains to drivers under 18 (I think that is the right age).

Only if you're under 18 years of age or a school bus driver. In the future, who knows?

Highly unlikely at the county or city government level unless Raleigh approves first.

Raleigh does not like the local governments going out on there own and will nullify local laws in a heartbeat to remind them who's in charge. If a wireless use law is enacted, it will be done on a statewide basis without local government interference.

NC and every state desperately needs such a law. It has been proven time and time again that a person on a cell phone is as dangerous on the road as a drunk driver.
