Question Comparing Apples to Apples ( MI to NC ) anyone ?

I really appreciate everyone's time and effort in trying to share all your weath of information on the Winston Salem and surrounding areas. It's all great information. But is there anyone that has recently relocated from the Metro Detroit area that can help us compare "apples to apples" and give us comparisons the best you can of areas up here to areas down there.. if that's even possible ?? We currently live in Rochester Hills, and will most likely be relocating this summer, with my husband working in Winston-Salem. Looking for nicer, newer home communities ( probably in the 350 to 500 range ) or so, with good schools ( we have a 1 & 3 year old ), good amenities ( golf/country club ). I'd love to hear your comparisons !!

I have 2 freinds who have moved from MN (not from Detroit) to winston Salem. Both of them love it. The y found housing to be cheaper (bigger and cheaper) and the commute to be excellent. Ours a new community (2/3 complete..custom built homes). Prices seem to be appreciating at the rate of 8-10%. Schools are decent specially in the Clemmons regions. The Country Club is 4 miles away and Bermuda run golf course is 2 miles away. For real estate search using CLEMMONS.
