Long time reader of the forum, first time poster. I’ve lived in Fuquay, Holly Springs, Raleigh, and Cary but due to work I’ve been out of the area the past couple years. The real estate market seems to be thriving to say the least so I’m looking for a good alternative To the triangle and still be within a reasonable commute. I spent last weekend out at Lake Royale found it kind of appealing. But I’m still unsure. Anyone on the forum have experience living there? Pro’s cons?

Thanks in advance

Just comments. 1. There was a drought some years ago that dried up the lake a lot. How was the water level when you were there?
2. A Google reviewer said their were cell phone dead zones. Did you try phoning?
3. I wish you well, especially if you can work from home.

Have you searched the forum for past posts? The ones from 2013 and 2014 commented on the part with camping trailers and how it contrasts with the gated resort area. (One poster had lived there and said he enjoyed it very much. )

There is also a Facebook group you might want to join. BTW, the prices for houses at the lake are quite reasonable compared to the Triangle.

It is a small lake that barely accommodates water skiing.

The location is quite good, probably 15 minute drive to Raleigh.

I-87 or US401 are the likely easiest routes to Raleigh.

It is in Franklin County which is not yet sophisticated like the rest of the Triangle despite being so close to Wake/Raleigh.

Jokingly folks in Louisburg refer to it as the Redneck Riviera, but it's lake living very close in.

You can find lots as low as $13,000 with yearly property tax of $120 and HOA dues are $75 a month.

Verizon put a new tower in Louisburg, but I don't know if that helps reception down at Lake Royale or not.

Threads from 2013, etc. might not reflect how it is today, especially in terms of things like cell reception.
