Hi everyone, with all the posts about people moving from NC to Cali, I wonder if
this is just herd mentality or are people really adjusting to NC and finding life quality here.

Are there any people who are either: (1) moving from NC to Cali for the first time, or (2) moving BACK to cali after living in NC. If so, what are your reasons/rationale? I'm particular interested in hearing from those who move from Raleigh/Durham/Greensboro/Charlotte to Southern Cali.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Maybe a high paying job offer? I know a bunch of people who made the move in order to earn much more on the same job!

If I won the lottery, why would I live somewhere expensive when I can get so much more in a cheap area? Id be looking at a mansion elsewhere, not a shack in CA!

I certainly agree with you Even if I were independently wealthy I would still never look to buy in an overpriced market like California, Miami or New York!

I do wonder about people taking those higher paying jobs to go to those areas. I believe the higher salaries don't really do them much good when they have to pay so much more for housing

It depends. Many people are making double salary and they just rent cheaply(rent is much cheaper than buying if you are in CA) till they retire. By then they have millions saved thanks to their excellent jobs and can move out and live a great life elsewhere. I choose to be self employed so I can live somewhere like Oil city where $50k gets me a big 4 bedroom house!
