Default Get Your Tag On

North Carolina is now offering custom plates so you do not have to get the new red lettering tags and you can get a special interest custom plate that most of the money collected will go to a good charity and some help preserve our enviroment that we all enjoy.

Here are a few of my favorites

The North Carolina Blue Ridge Parkway License Plate

$20 of the specialty license tag is returned each year to the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation to support projects and programs of the Foundation and National Park Service.

North Carolina Appalachian Trail Consevertory License Plate

The ATC receives $20 for each specialty A.T. plate purchased and renewed
Trail and facilities maintenance
Scenic easements for Trail and view preservation
Rare plants and old growth forests monitoring and documentation
Partnerships to preserve open spaces found in the Roan Highlands
Teachers with workshops to bring A Trail to Every Classroom
Increased public information efforts from our Asheville, N.C. regional office
N.C. Appalachian Trail License Plates - Appalachian Trail Conservancy (http://www.appalachiantrail.org/site/c.jkLXJ8MQKtH/b.854255/k.31BC/NC_Appalachian_Trail_License_Plates.htm - broken link)

Buddy Pelletier License Plate

$20 over normal fees, of which $10 will go to the foundation, which provides “scholastic and humanitarian aid to members of the East Coast surfing community.”

FRIENDS OF THE SMOKIES LICENSE PLATE

20 of the fee goes to Friends of the Smokies to support our efforts to preserve and protect Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The remaining $10 helps support the state's highway beautification program and other activities associated with the state's specialty license plate program.

North Carolina Coastal Federation License Plate

The NCCF will receive $20 per plate as a contribution, which will be used for projects that protect and restore North Carolina's coast
Welcome to the North Carolina Coastal Federation — nccoast.org

I have the last one the NCCF tag. I like it design and I know it going for a good cause to help protect our coast from development woes.

There is more charity organizations and Nascar plates but I thought these was the most stylish looking plates this state has to offer.

Sunny, my hubby gave me the Blue Ridge Parkway plate as a Christmas present - it was one of my favorite gifts I am so happy to see them showing up on cars all over Charlotte! (HATE the red lettering, yuck!)

Oh that is cool and fitting
Im glad to see them pop up around as well. I dont know if it is because we own a custom charity plate is why I am noticing them more or if it the color of the tags. I like my tag number in the format they have for these tags, it is alot easier to remember if your checking in a hotel and need to write down the tag number.

Im iffy on the other special interest plates. I guess you have to be a watermelon lover to get that one

Ooh, I like those. I've been meaning to get a personalized plate because I've been lamenting losing my blue-letter tags ever since we've been back.

With the custom plates the personalized lettering goes down to four from seven.

Here is a view of the custom plates. The ones above are located under special interest. https://edmv-sp.dot.state.nc.us/sp/d...ateviewers.htm

We have 3 of the Smokey Mountains on our cars...$88 to renew every year!

Also hate the red lettering...Except for changing from Blue to Red lettering...those plates have not changed in 15 years or more...BORING...that is why we have Specialized Plates on our cars.
