The project may or may not include a residential tower as well on the second 1 acre lot.
That corridor is about to become extremely dense. It was just announced this week that Dogwood State Bank will anchor dual 20 story towers next to the Duke Energy Center on Salisbury Square. I'm assuming that both towers will be mixed use. Construction for the first phase will begin in May.

Construction crews are hard at work building a new FedEx Ground distribution center south of Wilson at the junction of N.C. 58 and U.S. 264.

“We continue to experience significant package volume due to e-commerce growth and are optimizing the capacity of our network to meet growing demand for our services,” FedEx said in a statement. “The site was chosen because of its ease of access to major highways, proximity to customers’ distribution centers and a strong local community workforce for recruiting employees.”

Massive transformative project reportedly coming to Chatham County megasite

Quote:
A Vietnamese vehicle manufacturer which wants to build 250,000 premium electric SUVs per year in the U.S. may be close to finalizing plans to locate a plant in Chatham County’s Triangle Innovation Point megasite.

VinFast, a private automotive startup founded by billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, is closing in on an agreement to invest up to $7 billion in a manufacturing plant at Chatham’s Triangle Innovation Point — one of the county’s two megasites.

If it happens, VinFast would mark one of the largest economic development projects in North Carolina’s history.

As first reported by the Triangle Business Journal, VinFast would produce both electric batteries and vehicles at the site. Unnamed sources told TBJ that VinFast plans to occupy more than 1,000 acres in Triangle Innovation Point.

An official announcement from Gov. Roy Cooper’s office is expected within the week.

The company’s full build-out will eventually bring between 10,000 and 13,000 jobs to the TIP site, the 2,158-acre life science and advanced manufacturing park formerly known as the Moncure Megasite. It’s located in southeast Chatham close to the Lee County line.

Thanks for posting this. These type of centers create jobs that pay $70,000 to $105,000 annually for truckers (think 3 to 4 times that amount for the truckers who own their rigs). It's a big deal when a major distribution center opens. It tends to worsen our current shortage of drivers (which then raises the rates for those of us within the industry).
