Salisbury to Hickory or Lenoir (Boone, Mountain View: rental, house, middle school)

Due to my husbands job taking him to Hickory or Boone on a daily basis (he's a mason), we will be relocating to either Hickory or Lenoir from Salisbury. Are these teenage friendly areas? One is in high school the other just starting middle school. We have been looking for a rental house in either area and there seems to be more in Lenoir. Any help would be appreciated.

look in to the "Montain View" area of Hickory, schools are better up there and you are very close to 321 and i40. very nice area. Lenoir is a bit dull, but improving. I still think you are better off with Mountain View.

I second Mtn. View. Good family atmosphere; better schools. Easy to get back to Boone if your hubby needs to travel up that way.

Thanks. Boone is a big part of it. I will check out Mtn. View. We plan on moving within the next two weeks.
