Charlotte area VS Raleigh area (to rent, low crime, how much)

Family of 5 relocating in March to NC and we need help choosing best area to raise our kids, including low crime area, affortable housing, down to earth people and A+ schools since we have 3 kids, we need info. in wich city area would be the best for us. Charlotte or Raleigh.

Whats good? and whats bad?
any opinion will be great!!!!!

How much can you afford on rent or for buying a house?

My budget will be $900 to rent a house 2 or 3 bed. just to start, later on i will think on buying, but im very interesting in city information and areas
