Default interviewing in kinston

I'm in the process of interviewing for a job in Kinston, NC.
I am a single parent with a six year old daughter. I would like information on good neighborhoods and schools in the area. Also is this near or in Wake county because I read good things about Wake County

Kinston in Lenoir County is a good 90-100 miles from Raleigh in Wake County. I don't think you want to make this commute.

Hi Sassy -
If I were going to work in Kinston, I would live in New Bern. I visited there in October when I went out for my job interview. I have accepted a job near La Grange, which is just west of Kinston, but for me I'm thinking New Bern would be too much of a commute, so I am probably going to live in Goldsboro. But New Bern is a charming, almost coastal town, very historic. Much nicer than Kinston (in my very limited opinion!). If I remember right it's about 30 miles from Kinston to New Bern, a straight shot down Hwy 70.

If you don't mind living in a very small town, La Grange is nice. Especially in the country. I definitely wouldn't live in Kinston. There may be nice areas in Kinston, but I'm not aware of them.

Default Thank you

Thank you at least I have some place to start. Now all I have to do is get a job. My daughter is only six years old and everyday she tells me she wants to go to NC. She's my motivation for making this move.

lol, simple one here.

Stay out of Kinston

Live in New Bern....or Goldsboro

My choice New Bern by far.

But at least in Goldsboro you will be only 45 minutes from Raleigh.

New Bern...35 minutes from beach....with water on all sides!

I live in Farmville about 15 min outside of Greenville and definetly would like to move-I am not far from New Bern & would really like to check it out. I have a 12 yr old boy and am very disappointed with the schools here Don't want to move to Greenville though-same county. The only plus here for me as a single Mom is cost of living. Are there any good middle schools in New Bern and how is the cost of living? We would definetly rent in the beginning-anyone have any input? Thanks

New Bern has way better schools than Pitt co. For middle schools the best is HJ Mcdonald. It would be a much better place to raise a kid.
