Question Fayettville NC. Good or not so Good area?

I am considering moving to Fayettville, NC. I heard negative comments about it. I would like to know more about it specially the area of Springlake. Does anyone knows this area that can give me some advise.

Not sure about Spring Lake itself, but I had inlaws who were in the military there in the 1990's and they hated Fayetteville. We visited often and could see why. Very high crime, unattractive, very hot/humid in the summers. Don't know if it's still the same now, but according to some posters, it might still be a place to avoid.

I just started working in the Spring lake area however I have been the Fayetteville area for about 8 years. As with any place there are ups and downs, positives and negitives. I am a firm believer of making my home where ever I happen to live. As for schools I know of a few that I relly like. You might want to look into the school of choice program too. It really assisted me. Hoke county is a good place to build, it is a farming area that is building up fairly quickly. School out there are not so good from what I have been told. Harnett County has a couple of good schools and it is good to build. There are alot of huge beautiful homes out there as well as smaller trailer communities.

I lived in Fayetteville for 2 1/2 years and didn't like it at all. I had moved from Raleigh and couldn't wait to get back to Raleigh! It is a typical military town, but you go in knowing that there won't be any surprises.

I've lived in Spring Lake the last 6 + years, it's a busy section of town, it has a wal mart and tons of places to eat, and yes I would not live in any of the residential parts along the busiest stretch of Bragg Blvd or 210. And if you go out after dark keep an eye out for your surroundings.
