If your looking at Charlotte area check out Troutman. Nice lot sizes,and from what i can tell thats the next move. Mooresville is stuffed,can only go North.I am moving to Wilmington and cant wait.........

Thanks for the clarification on that - I thought they were in the same county (I don't know western NC that well other than the few times I've visited my friends).

For what you can afford to spend on a house I'd say get the SC certificate, look to live in Clover, Rock Hill, or Fort Mill. She'll be close to where she teaches but you will have a bit of a commute into Charlotte. Teacher salaries are better in NC, especially in Charlotte. But that won't do you any good at the price you want to buy a home at.
