Goodmorning Bull City Rising,

When he entered the magnet program he went in saying he wanted to be a surgeon, after two months he switched to a Physicians Assistant. By the end of freshman he had a knee injury playing football and had surgery. His conclusion he wanted to study physical therapy and get his masters in the same. He originally volunteered at our local hospital (Baptist) and was hired as a PT tech because of his overall academic performance in his medical pt program in school. He currently works weekends at the hospital. Perhaps his decision will be to stay here in Florida, I just want him to have options opened for whatever he decides.

Yes - please "allow" him to complete his college applications on his own and to write his own essay..... Hopefully, he will have completed chemistry, physics, biology, tirg / calculus while in his "magnet medical program" coursework. If he is able to certify via testing, he should do so. PT assistants write a national examination and practice as assistants. This is not the same thing as a PT aide. As for residency, the application is 4-5 pages long and asks about driver's license, taxes, etc., so a diploma from a NC high school may not be enough at this point; I deal mostly with graduates.

Typically NC requires one year of residency before qualifying for in-state tuition rates and acceptance
