Moving from CT to NC-need some help!
Hi everybody,
I have so many questions that don't even know where to start. I'd appreciate any help I get. I live in CT and think about moving to NC, mainly because of real estate prices here. I work as an office assistant at school, and my husband is a carpenter. I'd like to know if there are any job possibilities for him and me. Also what places are best to look for real estate (I mean the crime level, safety, schools, prices, salary for our professions etc.)
I'd appreciate any help!
Thanks so much,
Magdalena

Your best bet would probably be to situate yourself somewhere in the greater Charlotte metro area without actually being in the city. This would give you more affordable rents or housing prices. I would suggest you look in the city of Concord for starters. Expect rent for a 3 bedroom home or apt there to be about $800. a month and up. Schools are basically good there (Cabarrus County) and you would be in a safe area. I feel sure any experienced carpenter could find work - there is so much building going on here. Go online at the Charlotte Observer newspaper to search the classifieds for leads on jobs for yourself. Best of luck!

Hi,
Thanks so much for info. I'll check that newspaper you mentioned. WOW $800 for rent a house? I think I might like it! We pay $1000 for 1 bedroom and may I say it's not the safest place on earth!
Is Concord far from Charlotte? Do you know if there are many Polish?
My husband has 8 years of experience as carpenter, and I wander how much could he make in NC?
Anyway,
Thanks so much,
Magda

Hi Debct,
That's good to know.
Yeah, I'm Polish and so is my husband. We have many polish friends here in Stamford/Greenwich, and it'll be hard to leave everything behind. It makes me feel a little better when I see so many people making decision of moving.
I'd love to meet new people who are polish, and american and every other nationality. The thing about people is that where is a large polish community, there must be polish stores, restaurants etc. And I love polish food!
Anyway, have you chosen the place to relocate yet?
Best,
Magdalena1
