Heavens no! You can get on I-85 North in Charlotte and you'll get there in about an hour and a half or so. GSO is ~1/2 way to Raleigh starting at the I40 cloverleaf in Statesville; takes me about an hour to get there with a good tailwind and the HP watching someone else .

Wilmington
Hey just wanted to hit you back with a quick referral. Here in Wilmington at ST. Stanislaus we have a large Polish Festival where all the little old Polish ladies cook homemade pierogies and glumpkis. It's really cool. There is a decent amount of Poles that come out of the woodwork every year around that time. They also has a lenten dinner that just occured, same thing as the festival but on a smaller scale. If you need any more info. email me @ jacob.fox@deltacom.com. Hope this helps!!!

Raleigh Polish information
Thought I would give a heads up. There is a Polish club in Raleigh. Go to polamrtp.com. We have a polish festival here every year (lately has been at St. Francis of Assissi church) and you can also find some polish vibe at the international festival at the fair grounds. Polonez is a great store found on Atlantic Springs across from Carmike theatre. Hope they are still opened. I haven't been in a while but when I do go I enjoy it. You can also get home made pierogi at the Factory Ice house in Wake Forest. Ukranian/Canadian owned pastry shop. Sweetloralee.com.
Hope this helps. Enjoy!!!

To add to the persian store in Raleigh (Caspian International Market) that has a wide selection of polish beers, the persian restaurant in Chapel Hill (Cafe Parvaneh) serves kielbasa as well. Not a sausage fan so I haven't tried it!
Kind of funny though, given that I'm half polish and half persian.

Thanks for the infor on St Stans.
Little Irish boy grew up in an almost total Polish neighborhood in Camden NJ (that change though). Even went to Polish Catholic school. K thru High School. So, I grew up on Polish food from the neighbors. German food from Mom and Italian food from my buddies Mom. No, I don't weigh 400 pounds.
When I married Judy (Italian) we moved to the same neighborhood I grew up in and she learned how to make the BEST glumpkis. The best. The old Polish ladies couldn't believe it.
IF WE EVER SELL THIS HOUSE AND GET TO SHALLOTTE knowing St Stan's is close by is great. You can't beat church festivals for GREAT FOOD.
Hope to see you at St Stan's SOON.
