Default looking to move to N.C. from No. VA.

My wife are looking to move from Northern Virginia to N.C. Right now we are looking in the Charlotte/ Raleigh/ Wilmington/ and would consider New Bern.
She is a middle school reading teacher and I work for a large hospitality company. Any recommendations/suggestions as to which area you all would recommend would be greatly appreciated. We are looking in the $225,000 to $300,00 range to by a house with a yard.

What are you looking for in an area? All of the areas mentioned are different, but all are nice places to live. It just depends on what you and your family want.

Well, both Charlotte and Raleigh need teachers - so your wife should do fine. Why not consider looking into the Charlotte area though as far as jobs go for yourself. I believe Charlotte has a bit more going on here with the Panthers, Bobcats and Nascar. Your price range should go further in the Charlotte area too. Good luck!

Agree once again with loves mountains...I think Charlotte and Union County have a lot of job openings for teachers. Depending on what sized yard you are looking for you should have options in this area. Let me know if I can help

Thanks for the reply. Looking for decent shopping and grocery stores in a somewhat close proximity to neighborhoods. 15- 20 minutes drive would be nice. Decent neighborhoods with single family homes and decent yards. I am sure traffic is an issue where ever you move to however, nothing compares to Norther Virginia traffic. So anything would be an improvement. Obviously schools that are close by would also be taken into consideration as to where we move. My wife teaches in middle school. Again any information is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your response. How close is Union County to downtown Charlotte? We would prefer to live outside of any major city. Somewhere that is close to shopping centers and grocery stores, 15-20 minute drives. Also decent schools in the area would be prefered as my wife teaches middle school. We are looking for neighborhoods with single family homes. Can you recommend neighborhoods in these areas that might fit these criteria? Obviously traffic is an issue but coming from Northern Virginia anything but here is an improvement. Thanks again.

Hi Lablover,
You might want to consider Union County, since the taxes are lower than Mecklenburg County. Waxhaw, NC is just outside of Charlotte, so you can drive to Charlotte, Concord, Lancaster SC all these areas are within 30 minutes or so. Also if you are interested in Waxhaw, our family was relocated to Florida for my Husbands job, and our house and 2.11 ac. are for sale there.
The MLS# is 621910 if you want to take a look. I do not know what your price range is but our house and land is 219,000 now, we have just reduced the price again. Also as far as employment, the Union County School system is looking for good teachers and I feel sure that Parkwood Middle School would be a great place to start. The principal there is Neil Hawkins. You can PM me if you need more details.
