Maybe Northerners should see Cold Mountain before coming, just to start to understand the suffering that went on in the South during that time.
Another book that would be good for you to read to understand the Southern view of the Civil War is THE BLACK SWAN by Day Taylor.
Maybe if you realize that the slaves were brought here by Northern ships, it could help you share in the North's responsibility in this matter. We do know what you were taught and it was to ease the conscience of your ancestors. Slavery was only one state right issue. There were are are many others. Slavery was used by Lincoln to keep France from helping the South.
Segregation was also practiced first in the Northern States and it looks to me like you still do it. Isn't that why you are all asking, "What is a good town."
I think some of you need to start practicing some honesty.
