I agree withe Mv2nc. The population size of Mooresville (Race City) is a bit misleading. This is not an isolated community of 20K, but a community located within a much larger metropolitan area.

It's already too late for South Carolina.

[quote=Father John;886669]Yes, looked at Tennessee. If I recall correctly, the tax situation wasn't as good as NC. Sales tax in NC is 4.5% (plus local - Asheville is 2.5%)

Had to comment on this, Sales tax in NC is not 4.5, it's 7 %. I just moved from there last year and My husband was an Assistant Manager at Wal-Mart. Plus you pay taxes on your food as well.

Sales tax in North Carolina is a two-part tax, state & local. The state's portion of the tax rate changed last December 1st from 4.5% to 4.25%. In a couple of weeks it will be reduced again from 4.25% to 4%. The local sales tax will remain at 2.5% except for Mecklenburg County, which is 3%. As of July 1st, the combined state and local tax rate for most North Carolinians will be 6.5%.

I 'm just curious if the people who are complaining about 'transplants' invading NC are Cherokee or Shawnee ?!?! LOL

Default Why I am moving

I am moving to NC because I live in Florida and the hurricanes, taxes, insurance, population is horrendous. The people are rude and mean. I was able to sell my house and make enough to pay for a home in full in the country. I will be living in Newton, it will be different, but it will be inexpensive and with no mortgage I can get an easy job and not live for my home, possibly live for me. Since I wont have a mortgage even if I am not happy I can move with 100% profit from the sale. But unfortunately Florida used to be a paradise and now it is terrible, no jobs, angry stressed people, homeowners sky high, taxes unmanageable, just ahard life here.
Wish me luck I leave this friday!

Looking to move in a few years, possibly NC. Heard good things about Cary. Climate looks good. I'm in the AZ desert 6yrs and would like to see some trees and water.
