My guess would be:

White Lake in Bladen County
Lake Waccamaw in Columbus County

Can't think of the third.

I know Lake Norman looks really nice, I was surprised too when I heard it was man made. It beats the lakes in the Phoenix area too that look like watering holes also.

Another coastal lake
Not easy name to say first time real fast LOL.

Hyde Co Mainland, NC: LAKE MATTAMUSKEET

I guess growing up here I never understood issue with natural verses man made due to they are made with rivers and river basins

Lake Norman is large and fun some complain about too much traffic but I went on a warm Sunday and didnt get that impression I guess I was expecting waiting in lines or something lol but unless your driving a cruise ship it easy to maneuver around the water craft you do encounter.

we are moving to NC from MI and i have read a lot of these posted comments, i need to let everyone know that not all of us want to ruin your lives. we are choosing to take a position here, we want to be a part of your community. i will not try to force my beliefs on you or make fun of your accent i hope that i receive the same courtesy. we look forward to this move and hope our twin 8 yr olds and our 4 yr old adjust well. it would be wonderful if we werent treated like an outsider. We are not being forced to move here due to varing conditions we were asked by a company in NC to come.

My husband and I grew up in Va. Next I know I am in Wi. We been here almost 20 years. I hate it. My husband is dieing of congestive heart failure. I am still young. We live in a town of 1200 people. Our nearest grocery store is over 44 miles away. Our lights and gas for 900 sq foot trailer is about 194 bucks a month. There is no job here. I had degree in adminstration pay here is 8 bucks a hours. Once my husband passes away I will be alone. No job to pay the bills and pain in the butt to get anywhere. We were working for company at home as IC. As of Sept 10th they decided to block our state due to them going to employee status. Nc they went to employee status. Left us losing 1500 bucks a month. We get disibility and retirement that not enough to pay our bills. I have fibro. It all I can do to yard work. I take care of everything here. I am at my breaking point. The cost of living is about the same as the two state. We will be back where we can be near clinics, food we miss, friendly people and better weather. It not fun shoveling snow for 7 months or not seeing the sun for that long either. At least this way I can find a job to support myself. I can get a roomate if I need one. I have more chances of having a life after my husband passes. I am not looking forward to the traffice, the taxes and humidity. The trades off are better than what I got up here.

Dont worry, people with attitudes like yours will flourish in NC. The ones who have the opposite attitude are the ones who have a brief stay in NC. Oh, good luck on your relocation.. We need more transplants who possess the same mindset that you have.
