As a 5th generation native Floridian, I know a thing or two about growth. I don't blame North Carolinians for being wary of it. I have watched my hometown grow and change over the past 40 years. It is both a good thing and a bad thing. Growth is like that. The good is more jobs, restaurant choices, more sports for the kids to participate in, more culture. The bad would be overcrowded roads and schools. I think it's like that any where you go.
By the way, I paid $2.29 today for gas.

jersey is on a distinguished road
Default Pushed Outta Nj By Ny's

No offense to ANY person that is from New York but since this is a topic on growth. overcrowded schools, incredibly high taxes, etc, etc because of all the influx of newcomers to NC, particularly us Yankees, I just wanted to make a fact known that WE were driven out of our state for the same exact reasons. New Yorkers saw and learned how beautiful New Jersey was once you pass all the 'Soprano' landmarks along the interstates and they decided to settle in Jersey's suburbs and continue to make a lot of money in NY. Jersey wasn't always this expensive! Literally, within ten years, the whole landscaping views I remember as a child are GONE.......beautiful farms, woods, green, all replaced by malls, subdivisions, strip malls, MANY new schools to support all the growth. It was cool for awhile but then the attitudes starting changing (again, no offense, I don't mean to stereotype), people were gettting ruder and ruder, obnoxious, competitive-New Jersey has become a mini New York . Of course, not to mention the unattainable dream of owning a home there and having some sort of fulfulling life for us as a family-no possibility of doing that here if you're just starting out, unless you have rich relatives or connections. I understand where a lot of these posters are coming from. I'm being forced out of my home state for the very same reasons, not that I have any desire, WHATSOEVER, to stay. North Carolina, here we come!!!

I've snipped together two pieces of your post here to point out... that NC (in the major metros) is seeing this very same thing... the new malls, "power" centers, subdivisions, etc. Nature and beauty replaced by concrete and steel.

I am not anti-growth and I don't say this to say "don't move here." Heck, I'm a recent transpant too. I say it to point out that, things like this _matter_ to people! It's important that as NC grows, we do it in a way that preserves the natural environment and continues to keep Carolina livable. Believe me, watching Orlando get strip-mined was a painful thing. Let's make sure the same thing doesn't happen here.

Really? Well lots of people are moving from NJ to North Carolina....Just like what NY did for NJ....NJ is doing for NC. THIS IS THE SAME THING. This is all happening because illegal immigration is flooding this county and people are shuffling about trying to extend their quality of life from the financal effect of this. That is what is driving new housing throughout the US. right now it is people fleeing high priced areas for cheaper housing. Which is what will cause NC to become a high priced state.

Remember....The people are the ones allowing governments to do what they want. Do you really think that corruption like in NY and NJ is going to get that bad here? It is not that it is as bad as NJ and NY, but it is starting and will not stop. how long are we willing to jump to a different state every time government greed takes over?

Example: "Education" lottery, huge school bond and reassignments within less than 2 years and still apparantly there is not enough money for schools.....when will we all learn.

It is in the bible, sin is progressive
