The problem is the poster simply bitter and ignorant and didn't venture out. There are so many great restaurants in all of the Triangle. For the size of Durham and Chapel Hill we have quite a large selection. And yes we have ethnic food too.

In a way, you have just shed some light on the problem in the Triangle. Here in Charlotte, our dining options are different neighborhoods within Charlotte. Very few folks have to travel outside of Charlotte for dining purposes.
I can understand why someone is not happy with dining in the Triangle. If you have to drive between three different counties just to get the full "flavor" of the Triangle, it is not worth it. I like dining in different neighborhoods, not different towns. I could NEVER ride my bike or take a bus between dining points of interest in the Triangle. In Charlotte, it is easy to do without a car. To me, this makes the dining experience more fun.
Charleston SC has a VERY walkable downtown. You can easily take a bus or a horse and carriage ride between dining spots.
As for pizza, my favorite in Charlotte is Lebrettos inside of Epicentre. They have the best NYC styled pizza in the state IMO. For me, they are easy to get to. I live near the Tyvola and Woodlawn LYNX stations. I just catch the #24 bus (which has stops in front of my townhouse community) and take it to Woodlawn station. This is a 5 minute bus ride BTW. I usually wait 5-10 minutes for a train tops. Once the train arrives, it is only a 12 minute ride to Epicentre.
I am usually in uptown Charlotte from my home in under 30 minutes. The best part is that I don't have to worry about finding a parking spot and paying for parking. Due to the time I save on not having to park a car, I actually get to my destination in Uptown faster by train.

Yes, the Triangle is three different cities/towns. I rarely go to Raleigh or ever feel the need to. I really only go for the larger concerts and to see the Hurricanes. I go to Chapel Hill on occassion, which is easy to get to. I find plenty in Durham to make me happy. It's a small city with a lot to offer. I'm glad you enjoy Charlotte. In my opinion both the Triangle and Charlotte are too different to compare and don't get why people do it? I like that this area has different options with the convenience of the small towns to larger cities with less traffic. It takes me forever to drive around in Charlotte b/c of the traffic. Again, I don't need to venture out of Durham to eat at a variety of great restaurants, including great pizza.

I absolutely hate chain pizza, with the exception of Papa John's. Other than that, you really need to go for the locally owned stuff.
Here in Asheville, there are some fine pizza institutions, but my favorite is Marco's Pizzeria. They started in the Big Apple in the '20s or '30s, but then moved the operation down here.
Fantastic pizza!

you complaining more than me -- and I am from Buffalo NY's suburbs
The town next to ... TOWNLINE, NY ...
but that doesn't make you southerners look all that great!!

LIAR!!! You do not have to venture outside of any Triangle cities to find good food, beer, etc. There are over 300 clubs, bars, and restaurants in the Greater DT Raleigh area. MORE THAN UPTOWN CHARLOTTE! That's no bash to Charlotte either, I'm just tired of your misleading crap! I stayed at the Epicentre's Aloft the weekend before last. There are only about 5-7 restaurants in the entire place (although I enjoyed the Italian joint)! Stop with your nonsense. People like different cities for different reasons. GET OVER IT!
