OK you pay once a year a car tax, then you have your house property tax, then you are taxed again on the things you own i.e. a car, motorcycle, home again??
Are you taxed twice on cars and homes? I'm confused.

No you only are taxed once on your home and a separate "property tax" on your car, on your state income tax you will be asked to list "other property", I don't own a boat or motorcycle so I don't really know what all that entails.
I see a lot of angst about the "car tax" in NC, this isn't just a Southern thing, or a NC thing.
I don't know about NY or NJ, but in MA I had to pay alot more in excise tax on my car every year than I pay now in NC for my "car tax"
Not to mention other "taxes" that NY/NJ/MA folks are used to paying, namely tolls.....you won't find any toll booths in NC at least
