Default NC Commerce Dept at Farnborough Airshow

Good to see that the NC Commerce dept is busy working hard in England at the Farnborough Aerospace Show drumming up business and jobs for us back home. Looks like they found themselves a pretty cool location for hosting dinner this Thursday evening too at $2 = 1 UK pound it looks like they will be spending $$$$'s - now wouldn't NC BBQ have been more fun in the Airshow parking lot, washed down with that Belgian beer Budweiser

Farnborough - Trade Visitors - Events List FIA

and dinner is at :-

Sixty One Whitehall - The Westminster Collection

Maybe now that they have HondaJet in Greensboro and the jet engine plant in Burlington, they might be trying to attract more aeronautical and related businesses to the state? Probably went to the UK show to make their sales pitch.

I wonder if Governor Easley brought his wife and if he can keep the tab under $170,000 this time?

Thats an excellent point and I am strongly in favour - just question why such an elaborate venue for cocktails and dinner was necessary like 61 Whitehall in the most elite part of London - maybe they got to sleep in King Henry'e bed as part of the deal?

"Sixty One Whitehall sits on the very site of what was Henry VIII's private bed chamber in the Tudor wing of the old Whitehall Palace and adjoins the Banqueting House, the only part of the Palace to escape destruction by the London fire of 1698.

This beautiful Victorian grade II listed building, features unique design and room layout flexibility. Our dedicated Team can cater for a wide variety of Corporate and Private Events, ranging from high profile conferences to intimate dinners and receptions. Our aim is to provide personalised customer service tailored to your requirements"

It seems that type of over-the-top wining and dining is pretty much standard procedure these days to get the ear of corporate bigwigs looking to build new plants.

On a side note, NC was in the running for the new VW factory to be built near Rocky Mount. However, it now appears VW will build in Chattanooga, TN. We lost out again.

SC - BMW
AL - Mercedes & Honda
TN - Nissan & Saturn & VW
MS - Toyota
GA - Kia
