I currently live in Statesville. If your looking to invest in property and/or business this is the place to be since Statesville is growing and taxes are real cheap. But I have to drive 15-20 min. to Mooresville to shop at Old Navy, Target, Best Buy, Ulta, Bed Bath and Beyond, Panera Bread, etc. Mooresville is like Long Island. But if you want a little quiet and cheap taxes you can live in Troutman which is like living in Stony Brook, Montauk Point. (It's like living out east.)

Depending what you do? If you live in Mooresville it will take you 30 min. to go into work in Charlotte. Huntersville is also nice. They have Pier One Imports and all the other stores I mentioned above. But that's in Mcklenburg County.

I would not suggest moving into Mcklenburg County...HIGHER TAXES!!!

The schools are ok. I believe in NY the schools are more into the arts and music. I have a 9yr. and 5 yr. old that are attending and so far so good. We are still adjusting to the accents here but believe it or not. I have seen more NYers here and I hope we do take over the Carolinas...wink!
And you wonder why natives are sick of you moving in? Damn yankees.
