Hello everyone. My family & I are currently residing in Long Island. I have lived here my entire life and I think i'm ready for a change. Long Island is beautiful and it does have its perks but with the population greatly increasing & the cost of living skyrocketing; I think moving will keep my family more stable and happy. We would like to move within a year; if possible. I have 2 teenage daughters; one in which would be enrolled in highschool at the time of moving so schools are a factor.

I have family who live in North Carolina (not sure where exactly) that moved from LI and they rave about it. They say it was a great decision. I guess i'm looking to live in an area that is somewhat quiet; yet not too far from everything. An area with low taxes if possible. Do you think North Carolina would be the place for us? Any specific areas you would recommend for us?

Thank you for your time.

Maybe check out north Davidson County. Taxes are lower there than in neighboring Forsyth and Guilford counties, schools are good and you're close enough to Winston-Salem for shopping and business.

What do you do for a living? Hard to recommend anything without knowing that since some places offer more opportunities than others.

My husband works as a construction worker; mostly concrete. I'm just a stay at home mom. Sorry for not including that.

And now where exactly is Davidson County? From what i've been researching there's the Charlotte area, the Triangle, Mountains & Winston Salem. Which does this fall into? Originally I thought Charlotte area would be best for us but now i'm thinking the Triangle.

I live south of Greensboro and do not recommend Davidson County, especially for someone coming from Long Island. I think you'd be miserable! The Asheville/Waynesboro area is BEAUTIFUL and the people are wonderful! The Raleigh/Cary area is also nice. I've been in Greensboro area for 50 years and you may even like it here. There are still rural areas convenient to town if you're looking for that. Good luck w/the move.

Thank you.

Just out of curiosity, how is the population on Long Island greatly increasing? I know numerous people that have moved to NC from that area. Where are the new people on LI coming from?
